<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the concept of push/pull with an end user in a center by connecting a server and a composite device, consisting of a logical copier and a logical printer through an LAN and processing by a prescribed protocol so as to operate apparently in parallel. SOLUTION: This composite device 2 and a server 3, consisting of a computer are connected through an LAN 500 and information, are transmitted and received respectively between the server 3 and the printer part, the scanner part and the operation panel of the composite device 2 respectively, according to a printing protocol, a scanner protocol and a panel control protocol to process the transfer of printing data of the server to the logical printer, the transfer of data read from an original by a scanner part to the server 3 and the sending of data from the server 3 according to the request of the operation panel. An operation managing protocol gives information on the operating state of the device 2 to the server 3. Information includes information, showing that each device is in the middle of operation, consumable articles information like the number of printing, toner, etc., various kinds of setting information, error information, etc.</p> |
