The display stand is a post with a lower part (1) and an upper part (2) that are telescopic. The ends of the post have pads (4,5) that rest on upper and lower surfaces. A spring (10) tends to push the upper pad outwards. The upper inner part has a longitudinal slot (3) in one surface. The lower outer part is tubular and has a threaded hole (6) near its upper end. A screw (7) is screwed through this to rest against the inner surface of the slot in the inner part to fix the parts in position.
