COLORED EFFECT PIGMENT AND ITS USE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a colored effect pigment improved in light resistance, weathering resistance, etc., in which a conventional organic coloring pigment is not satisfactory. SOLUTION: This pigment comprises a flat core (a) and at least one coating film (b) applied to the surface of the core and consisting of at least two different substances. The coating film should have a composition varying substantially continuously in the direction of an axis vertical to the surface, and the refractive index of the surface near to core (a) and that of the surface distant from core (a) should be different from each other. Coating (b) may be further covered with an outer coating film.
