PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antifouling composition capable of providing high antifouling performances, slight in load of an antifouling agent as a component of a coating material on a marine environment, consequently extremely effective for preventing fouling of ship bottom parts, buoys, floodgates and underwater structures such as various supply and drain pipes for cooling, and an antifouling coating material using the antifouling composition. SOLUTION: This composition comprises 10-500 pts.wt. of an isothiazolone compound of the formula [X and Y may be same or different, are each a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; Z is an alkyl group, an aryl which may be substituted or an aralkyl which may be substituted] and 100 pts.wt. of a polyester resin containing >=90 mol.% of lactic acid residue in the resin and having L-lactic acid residue/D-lactic acid residue (molar ratio) of 1-9 in the lactic acid residue, 0.2-1.0 dl/g reduced viscosity (ηsp/c ) and 35-70 deg.C glass transition temperature.
