<p>The invention relates to a method for correcting the sharpness of image values. According to the inventive method, the image values are presented in an original range of values, said image values being produced pixel by pixel. The image signals presented in the original range of values are compressed into an intermediate range of values before the sharpness is corrected. Said intermediate range of values is measured in such a way that the signal exaggerations produced when the sharpness of the compressed image values is corrected fall within the original range of values. The sharpness of the image values is then corrected as follows: surround field values are obtained for the individual pixels by means of evaluating each of the surround fields of said individual pixels, difference values are produced from the image values and surround field values and said image values are then overlaid with difference values of a chosen strength, said difference values serving as a signal for correcting sharpness. The image values with corrected sharpness are then decompressed to the original range of values.</p> |
