<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize a decrease in contrast by arranging a photosensitive light shield layer which suppresses the incidence of external light on a semiconductor layer according to the wavelength or intensity of the external light in front of a switching element. SOLUTION: In front of the switching element, the photosensitive light shield layer is arranged which suppresses the incidence of the external light on the semiconductor layer 24 according to the wavelength or intensity of the external light. Namely, a photochromic film 17 is formed of a photochromic substance as the photosensitive light shield layer behind a front transparent substrate 12 over the entire display area. Consequently, when if intense light is made incident from the front of the liquid crystal display device 11, the photochromic film 17 is irradiated with the light to change in color or become dark, so that the transmissivity to the light can be reduced. Consequently, the incidence of intense light (stray light) obliquely on a color filter layer 19 can be suppressed to suppress the incidence of the intense light on the semiconductor layer 24.</p> |
