DIGITAL DATA ENCODER AND DATA ENCODING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To insert various data such as format, band width and clock rate in digital image signals by replacing the edge of data or the edge of data bits with a compositely generated amplitude value, before inserting these data in the digital image signals. SOLUTION: A data type register 1 is set in accordance with the type of input data or data read out of a data memory 4. The data type register 1 signals this data type to an increment register 15 and sets a correspondent increment value designated to the data type or a data clock cluster. A discrete time oscillator 14 is operated by this increment value. While depending on the level of the increment value, the output of the discrete time oscillator 14 stepwisely changes according to the increment value as well. Depending on this signal, a new amplitude value is read out of a memory 20 by an address oscillator 13. Then, the overall data signal to be supplied to an input terminal and to be encoded is replaced with a new amplitude value.
