PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the image quality by applying a driving waveform of such magnitude as causing no jetting of ink drop entirely to a plurality of energy generating elements for jetting an ink drop from a nozzle thereby suppressing fluctuation in the dot diameter while preventing the printing speed from lowering. SOLUTION: After finishing the line feed or reset operation of a carriage and before starting print operation, the non-jet drive waveform (pulse train) of a drive waveform in a head drive circuit is selected by a control signal and applied to each piezoelectric element of all nozzles. The non-jet drive waveform is a pulse train having a period of about 800μs and a voltage of about 10 V. Since an energy generating means, i.e., the piezoelectric element 32, is displaced by an elongationδ, a faint vibration is applied in the arrow direction to an ink having increased viscosity in an nozzle 36 and the viscosity of ink is decreased. |
