CELL FLOW CONTROL METHOD AND CELL EXCHANGE SYSTEM USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable time management of the cell flow for each physical line by stepping only a time counter corresponding to a line, to which a coming cell belongs, and controlling the cell flow corresponding to the count value of the stepped time counter. SOLUTION: A UPC device is provided with a time counter 200 and a selector 201 and the time counter 200 is prepared with four counters c1-c4, for example, to be multiplexed. Each time the cell of the relevant physical line arrives, the selector 201 judges the physical line, to which a cell 10 outputted from a line multiplexer belongs, from a header part 11 of the cell 10 while using the VPI of a cell identifier. Then, the counters c1-c4 of the time counter 200 for the correspondent line are selected from the VPI value and the selected counter is stepped so that the cell flow can be controlled corresponding to the count values of the stepped counters c1-c4. Thus, by watching the value of the time counter corresponding to the line of the time counter 200, the flow of cells can be grasped.
