METHOD OF DETERMINING SUPEROXIDE ACTIVITY OF EXPIRED AIR IN PATIENTS AND HEALTHY PERSONS

FIELD: pulmonology. SUBSTANCE: standard volume of expired air is incubated with nitro blue tetrazolium in presence of superoxide dismutase, and reference sample is incubated with albumin. Products of interaction of superoxide anion-radical and nitro blue tetrazolium - formazanes are extracted with dimethylsulfoxide- chloroform mixture. Concentration of formazanes is spectrophotometrically determined and utilized to estimate superoxide anion-radical activity. From difference between contents of superoxide anion-radical in air expired by patient and healthy person, superoxide anion-radical activity in air of persons being investigated is judged of. EFFECT: provided accuracy and noninvasiveness of investigation.
