The invention concerns a method and machines for forming the volume of a drum-shaped box provided with a retractable film (37) with polygonal cross-section or the like from a first corrugated or solid fibreboard flat blank (13), wound around a mandrel (1, 2, 3, 4) with polygonal cross-section identical to that of the box, to form the can-band carton thereof and a from a second flat blank to form the base cap. The invention is characterised in that the steps for forming the box consist in: positioning the blank on the mandrel, making a so-called intermediate face coincide with one of its horizontal surfaces, folding the faces adjacent to said intermediate face around the mandrel longitudinal ridges and bonding the joining strap; and the operations of gluing, and fixing the film, dehacking the second blank, gluing, folding in the appropriate place and pressing the base cap flaps, and ejecting the box are carried out by the co-operation of a rotation in the vertical plane about a fixed horizontal axis, with folding and pressing means. |
