ANTIMICROBIAL CONCRETE OR MORTAR AND ITS PRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain uniform and stabilized antimicrobial effect without impairing color of concrete or mortar by adding an antimicrobial metal-substituted type hydroxyapatite to concrete slurry or mortar slurry. SOLUTION: Cement is kneaded with water, crude aggregate and fine aggregate to afford concrete slurry or cement is kneaded with water and fine aggregate to afford mortar slurry. A metal-substituted type hydroxyapatite obtained by substituting an antimicrobial metal ion for 0.1-10 wt.% of a part of calcium ion in hydroxyapatite or fine aggregate made of foamed lightweight concrete and containing the metal-substituted type hydroxyapatite is added to the slurry and the slurry is poured and cured and hardened to provided the objective antimicrobial concrete or antimicrobial mortal. The metal-substituted type hydroxyapatite has while color and light specific gravity and is uniformly dispersible in slurry.
