SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MUTUALLY CONNECTING A LARGE NUMBER OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a system having a robustness for communicating information between interconnected electronic devices by switching a digital recording mode to an analog recording mode for recording a corresponding analog video signal in response to a fault condition. SOLUTION: A video cassette recorder(VCR) 100 includes control microprocessor (μP) 108 which is connected to respective functions such as a tuner 113, a reproducing/recording unit 101 and a luminance/chromaticity processor for executing control. TheμP 108 controls the communication of control information to a DSS (trademark) unit 170 through a digital I/O port 110. Either one of a corresponding digital bit stream to be recorded by a digital recording mode and a corresponding analog video signal to be recorded by an analog recording mode is received, the digital video bit stream is recorded by the digital recording mode, which is switched to the analog recording mode for recording the analog video signal in response to a fault condition.
