PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the breakage of an intermediate transfer belt caused by walk. SOLUTION: Belt reinforcing tape 42 is stuck on the outer peripheral surface of the side end part of the intermediate transfer belt 4. A rib 41 is stuck on the inner peripheral surface of the side end part. The laying-over part LAP of the tape 42 and the butting part BUTT of the rib 41 are mutually separated by a distance LB. The laying-over part LAP is constituted in a forward direction in the sliding direction of a slidable contact body to the tape 42, so that the slidable contact body is made to smoothly slide. Also, tape top end parts are mutually welded and joined at the laying-over part LAP.
