PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a highly stereoregularα-olefin polymer with slight fine powder and good powder disposition, and to obtain a catalyst forα-olefin polymerization having high catalytic activity enough to dispense with removing catalyst residues and amorphous polymers. SOLUTION: This catalyst forα-olefin polymerization is composed of (A) a titanium compound-contg. solid catalytic component which is prepared by the following process: a solid product formed by mutual contact between a Si-O bond-bearing organosilicon compound, an ester compound and an organomagnesium compound is treated with an ether compound, titanium tetrachloride and an organic acid halide compound followed by a mixture of an ether compound and titanium tetrachloride or a mixture of an ether compound, a titanium tetrachloride and an ester compound, (B) an organoaluminum compound, and (C) an electron-donating compound. The other objective method for producing anα-olefin polymer comprises homopolymerization of anα-olefin, or copolymerization between anα-olefin and ethylene or anotherα-olefin, using the above catalyst.
