摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antimicrobial agent developing excellent antimicrobial properties in a small amount in a short time, without deteriorating the mechanical properties of resin molded products even when incorporated in the resins. SOLUTION: This antimicrobial agent is such one as to have Ag or Ag alloy coherent layers on the surface of each inorganic granule having an average diameter of $1μm and the inorganic material is exposed on the surface of the granules where the coherent layers do not exist. The coherent layers of the Ag or Ag alloy are produced by subjecting coating layers of Ag or Ag alloy put on the surface of the inorgarnic granules to heat treatment at 200-1,000 deg.C. It is preferable that the Ag coating layers are put through a dry method, such as powder sputtering, vacuum deposition or ion plating, at a coating rate of 0.5-10 wt.% calculated as Ag, based on the inorganic granules. Resins, coating materials, fibers, cosmetics or the like are afforded with excellent antimicrobial properties without deteriorating the mechanical properties of resin molded products even in an environment where the agent is exposed to light irradiation, by dispersing this antimicrobial agent in the resin at a compounding ratio of 0.1-7 wt.%.
