PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound useful as an intermediate for an antimicrobial spiro compound useful as drugs, animal drugs, fish drugs and preservatives. SOLUTION: This compound is shown by the formula (R is a benzyl or 1- phenylethyl), e.g. 5-benzyl-4,7-dioxo-5-azaspiro[2.4]heptane. The compound of the formula, e.g. the above heptane is obtained by reacting ethyl acetoacetate with 1,2dibromoethane in the presence of a base to obtain 1-acethyl-1- cyclopropane ethyl carboxylate, brominating the acetyl group with bromine to obtain 1-bromoacethyl-1-cyclopropane ethyl carboxylate, and reacting it with benzylamine for ring-closing. The compound provides an antimicrobial compound high in an antimicrobial activity, fat-solubility and oral absorbency. |
