PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reuse a disposable type printer ink vessel for a printer by regenerating it electrically and refilling the vessel with ink. SOLUTION: A storage device 26 gives a signal indicative of a volume of ink remaining in a vessel 12 to a printer 10 when the memory device 26 is connected to the printer 10. The original storage device 26 is not reset by the printer 10. Four methods for revitalizing the original storage device 26 are the following: First, reprogramming is carried out by erasing a memory region by means of a radiation source. Second, the storage device 26 is removed therefrom together with an electric contact point. Third, a new signal line and a contact point are attached to a portion above an original set of electric structure elements by leaving the storage device 26 and contact point to a predetermined portion. Fourth, the electric connection between the original electric contactpoint 24 and memory device 26 is cut off and a second signal line is connected to the contactpoint 24. As a result, the new signal line can be connected to an emulator or a substitute storage device 26 and the emulator or the new storage device 26 can be attached to the ink vessel 12 or provided away therefrom. |
