FIELD: foundry, namely apparatuses for HORIZONTAL direct casting of light metals. SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes intermediate casting ladle and horizontally arranged permanent mold or metal mold connected with intermediate ladle. Mold is provided with systems for primary cooling of its walls in order to cool metal without contact with water and for subsidiary direct cooling of cast metal. Mold has separate circuits for primary and subsidiary cooling water. Isolation adapter ring is placed in mold inlet. Depth of mold is in range (25 - 45)mm. Inlet opening of mold is to be placed asymmetrically, nearer to mold bottom. It is preferable to use apparatus in which intermediate ladle and mold are separated by means of heated inlet portion of isolation material embraced by steel casing or envelope in which steel is in contact with melt magnesium.
