<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive network terminating device and a subscriber terminal by giving a substitute call control function to an ATM subscriber line concentrator which gathers all virtual connections to every network terminating device to perform the call control in behalf of the network terminating device and the subscriber terminal. SOLUTION: A call control channel 210a is prepared between an ATM subscriber line concentrator 30 and an ATM exchange 20 to transmit and receive a call control message. The concentrator 30 has a substitute call control function 101 to control the SVC(switched virtual channel) connections 200b and 200c in an ATM subscriber network 11. A management table stores the numbers of circuits to which the subscriber terminals 50a to 50c contained in the concentrator 30 are connected, the terminal ATM addresses, time call numbers with which the function 101 transmits and receives the cell control messages to and from the exchange 20 on behalf of the terminals 50a to 50c, and the virtual path and virtual channel identifiers. Then the function 101 establishes the call control channels 210b and 210c.</p> |
