PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an end mill obtaining excellent cutting performance to cut material such as aluminum. SOLUTION: In a crosscut end mill 10, a rake angleα1 of a peripheral cutting edge 12 is to be 15 deg.-25 deg., a margin of margin width d=0.2 or less is provided, gash machining is applied to an end cutting edge 16 so as to come in contact in a range of 75% or more of a corner R part 14, and a rake angleβ1 of the end cutting edge 16 is to be 15 deg.-25 deg.. In case of an end-cutting end mill a rake angle of a peripheral cutting edge is to be 18 deg.-20 deg., gash machining is applied to an end cutting edge so as to come in contact including the whole periphery of a corner R part, a rake angle of the end cutting edge is to be 19 deg.-21 deg., a center recessed angle of the end cutting edge is to be 18 deg.-22 deg., and the end cutting edge is provided with a nick.
