GRAPHITIC POWDER WITH HIGH OXIDATIVE RESISTANCE AND DISPERABILITY AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PURPOSE: Graphitic powder is provided which has excellent oxidative resistance and water-disperability, thus it can be useful for developing high-quality refractory and ceramics, and usable under oxidative atmosphere. CONSTITUTION: The graphitic powder is produced by dispersing 1-50 pts.wt of natural or artificial graphitic particles into 100 pts.wt. of 0.01-1 M aqueous solution of a zirconium salt to make slurry; carrying out hydrothermal synthesis of the slurry at 50-200°C under a pressure of 1-10 kg/cm¬3 for 12-48 hrs to coat the surface of graphitic powder with ZR. The Zr salt is selected from at least one of the group consisting Zr hydrochloride, Zr sulfate and Zr nitrate.
