A process for the preparation of alkaline earth metal salts of β-diketo compounds by using one mole of a powdery or granular alkaline earth metal compound and at least 2.04 moles of an aliphatic β-diketo compound. The reaction may be conducted either by feeding both components into a reactor continuously or intermittently or by adding either of the components to the other continuously or intermittently. The maximum reaction temperature may reach 50 °C or above, and the reaction mixture may be aged, followed by drying in an inert gas atmosphere at 100 to 180 °C. The alkaline earth metal compound may be calcium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide or barium hydroxide, while the aliphatic β-diketo compound may be a compound represented by general formula (1), particularly, acetoacetic ester or acetylacetone. The process can give high-quality and stable alkaline earth metal salts of β-diketo compounds.
|
