PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent retraction of ink in an ink jet head by preventing sudden change of a pressure to the surface of the ink on a tip section of the head from a negative pressure in a cap to the atmospheric pressure when the cap is removed after the cap is brought into intimate contact with the ink jet head and ink is sucked therefrom. SOLUTION: A slit 23 is formed on a cap 22 which is to be brought into intimate contact with an ink jet head 13 when sucking ink. The cap 22 is formed of an elastic member. The slit 23 is so constituted that it is not opened when the cap 22 is not brought into intimate contact with the ink jet head or the cap 22 is not pressed strongly against thereto even when the cap 22 is brought into intimate contact therewith, and it is opened by the deformation of the cap 22 that occurs when the cap 22 is brought into intimate contact therewith and is further pressed toward the side of the head 13. |
