PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the fouling of the outside of a cylinder with ink stagnated in the vicinity of a discharging opening after vacuuming ink from a nozzle part of a recording head so as to be discharged from a discharging opening of a cylinder 7 of a suction pump. SOLUTION: In a cylinder of a suction pump 54 having a suction opening 72 and a discharge opening 73 provided in a cylinder side wall with an optional distance, two pistons 62, 63 are driven so as to be moved independently with each other for vacuuming ink from the suction opening 72 according to a negative pressure generated in a pump room 74 between the pistons 62, 63. Thereafter, the capacity of the pump room 74 communicating with the discharge opening 73 is shrunk so as to discharge the ink, and then, the capacity of the pump room 74 communicating with the discharge opening 73 is slightly increased so as to return the discharged ink stagnated in the vicinity of the discharge opening 73 to the pump room 74. |
