<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a high quality two-dimensional or three-dimensional image without requiring many cables, channels, or switches, by forming a one- dimensional array for executing a two-dimensional scan mode or a two-dimensional array for executing a three-dimensional scan mode by one set of mode switches or multiplexers. SOLUTION: A line 110 and a column 115 respectively constitute a bin 120. A first column C1 constitutes, for example, a bin B1 whose bin size is 1×10. Each bin 120 is provided with a system channel 125 and an electronic mode switch 130. This system channel 125 and the electronic mode switch 130 are assembled in the transducer assembly of probes related with plural transducer elements 105 included in the bin 120. Each electronic mode switch 130 is operated as a multiplexer for energizing he transducer elements 105 for a two-dimensional or three-dimensional mode operation.</p> |
