PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent magneto-optical recording medium of a magnetic domain wall moving type having ultrahigh density in which movement of domain walls is used for reproduction and storage stability of magnetic domains in a memory layer is improved, and to obtain its producing method. SOLUTION: This magneto-optical recording medium has at least first, second and third magnetic layers 131 to 133 successively laminated, and the first magnetic layer 131 has relatively smaller coercive force of domain walls and large mobility of domain walls compared with the third magnetic layer 133 at a temp. near the ambient temp. The second magnetic layer 132 has lower Curie temp. than of the first magnetic layer 131 and of third magnetic layer 133. The surface roughness Ra(d) of the first magnetic layer 131 is controlled to be smaller than the surface roughness Ra(m) of the third magnetic layer 133 (Ra(d)<Ra(m)). |
