The plug has an integral element to block the contacts in place. The electrical connector comprises a male box (1) and a female box (2) intended to receive the male box. The male box (1) comprises channels (3) extending lengthwise, each intended to receive a contact element . Contact elements are retained by transverse spurs (26) which fit into a slot in the side of the male box. A hinged flap (25) is formed by moulded in an inclined position on the side of the male box, and this supports the transverse spurs so that when the flap pivots downwards the spurs are inserted into their active position in order to retain the contacts. Once the male terminal is inserted within the female socket, the pivoting flap is held in its closed position by the internal wall of the female socket.
