PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a welding wire exellent in arc starting property. SOLUTION: A welding wire has, on the wire surface got rid of adhered material, a wavy part of ruggedness of wavelengh of 20-500μm along the circumferential direction. In the case that the ruggedness is measured atΔxμm distance along the circumferential direction, the total sum of peak intensity appeared at the position of reciprocal of the wavelength is 0.02-0.8 (μm)2 in the power spectrum obtained by frequency analysis of this measured value.
