<p>A roller skating device includes a 'roller skate' embodiment having a rectangular pattern of rollers (48) and an 'in-line skate' embodiment having a single line of rollers (8). Each embodiment has its rollers (8) mounted to an undercarriage (6), i.e. a frame to which a 'boot' is affixed. A 'roller' or 'in-line' style with one foot in the boot (4) of the skate (2). The user's non-rollered 'free' foot is placed upon the foot platform (10) while skating. The free foot can be used to push-off against the ground and/or for stability, as with skateboards. To brake, weight is shifted to the free foot on the foot platform, pivoting the skate on the rear rollers (8) to bring a brake pad (28) into contact with the ground. The skate can be made for either foot, depending on the user's preference.</p> |
