PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cover a high-conductivity material in the normal line direction of the luminescent spot center of a base point by selectively covering the surface of an insulating substrate on an electron source substrate with a material having the conductivity higher than that of a substrate material, and keeping the high- conductivity material in contact with at least one of element electrodes and wires. SOLUTION: A substrate 1 made of quartz glass is fully washed, an element electrode material is stacked on it, then element electrodes 2, 3 are formed on the substrate 1, and an organic metal solution is applied on them to form an organic metal thin film. The organic metal thin film is heated and baked to form a conductive thin film 4, then a film of a high-conductivity material is formed. The film of the high-conductivity material is formed on the surface of an insulating substrate, and part of it is kept in contact with at least wires or the element electrodes 2, 3. When the covering state of the high-conductivity material is properly determined according to the position of the substrate 1 and a luminescent spot, the power consumption is suppressed, and the orbit of an electron beam can be made very stable.
|
