PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject sheet like material equipped with a touch such as resilience, firmness, etc., and having a function of absorbing moisture in a high moisture-absorbing rate and instantly generating heat by loading specific polymer particles on the surface of a specific fibrous material. SOLUTION: This moisture-absorbing and heat-generating sheet like material is obtained by loading polymer particles of an acrylate-modified (meth)acrylic polymer having <=5μm, preferably <=1μm mean particle diameter, a cross- linking structure, 5-12 eq/g salt type carboxyl group on the surface of a fibrous material constituting a sheet like material. As the sheet like material, it means the material having a two dimensional planar state material having a thin thickness, and e.g. a cloth, paper, knitted/woven fabrics, non-woven cloth, sheet, etc., are cited. As the fibrous material as the constituting component of the sheet like material, the fibrous material consisting of an organic/inorganic polymer, glass, metal, etc., are cited. As the cross-linking structure of the (meth) acrylic polymer, those obtained by introducing with copolymerizing divinylbenzene, etc., are cited.
