<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video coding/decoding system that gives no unpleasant image to a viewer by not outputting defective frames to the downstream in the case of a changeover of coder/decoder placed in parallel due to occurrence of a fault or the like. SOLUTION: Coders/decoders 2a, 3a are placed in parallel, and a frame buffer 7b consisting of n sets of buffers is placed between the coder/decoder 2a and a selector 5a. Furthermore, a frame buffer 7c consisting of n sets of buffers is placed between a distributor 4 and the coder/decoder 3a. Furthermore, a controller 8 throws a selector 5a usually to a position A and when receiving a fault signal from the code/decoder 2a, the controller 8 throws the selector 5a to a position B at the breakpoint of frames as far as the frame buffer 7b stores a normal coded/decoded video signal. Thus, it is prevented that a defective frame from the coder/decoder 2a is outputted to a transmitter 6.</p> |
