PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for maintenance of steel round bar by an automatic grinder capable of markedly reducing frequency of generation of a burr due to grinding compared with the past. SOLUTION: In this method for maintenance, a circumferential surface of a cylindrical grinding wheel 2 rotating at a high speed abuts to an external peripheral surface of horizontally placed steel round bar 1, and its surface flaw is automatically ground by repeatedly forward/backward moving the grinding wheel 2 along an axis of the steel round bar 1. Here, at the beginning of a grinding start, the grinding wheel 2 is forward/backward moved by placing axes of the grinding wheel 2 and the steel round bar 1 in parallel to each other, and then an angle formed mutually by both the axes is arbitrarily changed, so as to perform grinding. |
