PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a flame-retardant after processing agent suitable for seats, interior materials, construction curing sheet or the like all made of polyester textile by the polycondensation of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid (or its ester), a diol and a specific phosphinic acid derivative. SOLUTION: This flame-retardant after processing agent comprising a polyester having 500-20,000 molecular weight is obtained by the transesterification of (A) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid (or its lower alkyl ester), e.g. terephthalic acid (or its dimethyl ester), (B) a diol such as ethylene glycol and (C) a phosphinic acid derivative of formula I (wherein, R1 and R2 are each H, a 1-22C alkyl, a 2-22C alkenyl, a 5-6C cycloalkyl, a 6-14C aryl or the like; Y is an organic group of formula II or the like) in the ratio (the component A: the component B: the component C) of [1:(1-7):(0.2-5)], preferably [1:(1-5):(0.3-3)], followed by the polycondensation. |
