PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a film which is used for a packaging material excellent in the capability of protecting the contents and is excellent in taste characteristics and corrosion resistance even after severe processing such as drawing or ironing by using as the constituents two or more catalyst components comprising metal compounds composed of metal elements selected from Ti, Al, Zr and Si, with the total content of these metal elements being a specified value. SOLUTION: This polyester satisfies the relation of the formula: 1<=MA<=40, preferably 1<=MA<20 [wherein MA is the total content (mM%) of Ti, Al, Zr and Si in the total catalyst metal elements remaining in the polyester]. Metal compounds preferably comprise Ti/Si composite oxides, suitably having a molar ratio of Ti to Si of (10:1) to (1:1). To obtain good taste characteristics and long-term shelf stability, it is more desirable that the catalyst metal content and the phosphorus element content satisfy the relation of the formula: -20<=MA-PA<=20 [wherein PA is the content (mM%) of remaining phosphorus element]. The film has excellent laminating properties, adhesiveness, formability, and capability of protecting the contents even when used with a laminate base material other than metal. |
