PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inexpensively mass-producing the subject admixture consisting mainly of active kaolin, and to obtain a mortar/concrete composition with high compression strength by compounding the above admixture. SOLUTION: This admixture has a specific gravity of 2.5-26, average particle size of 4-8μm, maximum particle size of <=70μm, alumina/silica weight ratio of 1.0: (1.3-1.6), and consists mainly of active kaolin. This admixture is obtained by the following process: kaolin and/or halloysite as feedstock is subjected to wet pulverization so as to be 3-20 wt.% in 200-mesh sieve residues, and then molded into a spherical or columnar molded form, which, in turn, is burned at 750-900 deg.C, and then pulverized so as to afford the particle size as mentioned above. The other objective composition is obtained by compounding mortar/ concrete with the above admixture in such a way as to substitute 5-20 wt.% (inner percentage) of unit cement.
