PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve a drift in phase between the teeth of the right and left drive sprockets without increasing a shaft diameter by independently journalling the right and left drive sprockets wound with a pair of footstep chains connected with footsteps, and driving the drive sprockets with drive systems split into two systems. SOLUTION: The power of a motor 31 is split and transmitted to the input shafts 18A, 18B of the right and left gear devices 12A, 12B from the output shaft 34 of reduction gears 30, then it is transmitted to drive sprockets 4A, 4B from output shafts 13. If systems from the output shaft 34 to the drive sprockets 4A, 4B are constituted on the same condition, no phase difference occurs between the teeth of the sprockets 4A, 4B. If the reduction gears 30 are arranged at the center of the right and left drive sprockets 4A, 4B, the input shafts 18A, 18B can be made equal in length, thus the twist quantity between the input shafts 18A, 18B can be reduced. The shaft diameter(d) of the input shafts 18A, 18B and the output shaft 34 can be made finer than before.
