PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antimicrobial member for targeting members useful in a food handling field, a medical field or household electric appliances, or the like, having excellent antimicrobial activity and immediate effect and antimicrobial durability. SOLUTION: This antimicrobial member has an antimicrobial coating film on the surface. An Ni content in depth at least within 1μm from the surface of the antimicrobial coating film in the surface layer is >=50% (mass %) and a Co content is >=0.001 mass % or a hydrogen content is 0.1-50 ppm. The antimicrobial member shows an excellent antimicrobial action on many kinds of microorganisms.
