摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic focal point detector capable of providing a highly precise focal point detection result, and an automatic focal point adjuster. SOLUTION: This focal point adjuster is provided with a photographing optical system for imaging a subject image, an image picking-up element 5 for receiving subject light transmitted through the photographing optical system to convert it into an electric signal, a color filter 5a arranged in a front face of a light receiving face of the element 5 and comprising plural color filter elements, an auxiliary light irradiating means 28 for irradiating, toward a subject, auxiliary light of which the maximum value of spectral light emitting output is made coincident with or near to the maximum value of spectral transmittance of the color filter element corresponding to an output element having the highest ratio of image picking-up signal treatment value with respect to white light out of respective beams transmitted through the respective color filter elements of the color filter 5a, and a detecting means for detecting an adjusting value to adjust a distance upto the subject based on an output signal of the image picking-up element 5 generated by receiving a reflected beam after the beam irradiated from the means 28 is reflected by the subject.
