PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small, light-weight, low-cost, and reliable power system. SOLUTION: This power system is provided with an engine automobile, which is equipped with an internal combustion engine for generating power to drive a vehicle, a rotating machine coupled with this engine, first and second accumulators 16 and 18 functioning respectively as the power for first and second auxiliary engines, and a charger 17 for charging the second accumulator 18, using the power of the first accumulator, and which is so arranged as to start the engine via a semiconductor power converter 11 and the rotating machine, using the power of the first accumulator 16. The first accumulator 16 is composed of a second accumulator 18 and a third accumulator 5 connected in series to this, and the positive electrodes of the second and third accumulators 18 and 15 are connected to the first and second auxiliary engines 9 and 13 and the charger 17.
