PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a desired image quality by switching the position of contact area of a charged powder developer carrier and a barrier wall between print time and non-print time thereby preventing adhesion of developer to the barrier wall even if the developer carrier touches the barrier wall. SOLUTION: When a drive circuit 30 receives a signal from a controller 32 and feeds a current to a solenoid 28 during non-print time, a container 4 is moved by a specified distance to the right from a specified position. Consequently, a sleeve 14 moves to a specified position while keeping contact with a barrier wall 46. Width of the movement is set such that a developer 2 standing on the downstream side of a contact area between the sleeve 14 and the barrier wall 46 is scratched by means of the sleeve 14 as the sleeve 14 moves. Scratched developer 2 is contained in the container 4 while being held by the sleeve 14. When the controller 32 interrupts signal supply to the drive circuit 30, only the urging force of a spring 24 acts on the container 4 and the sleeve 14 is reset. |
