PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a wire of good external appearance, superior in lubrication property and an abrasion resistance, having a long life and less wire breaking during drawing by forming the wire by coating a diamond-like carbon on a hard metal base material. SOLUTION: This guide for a wire a drawing device is formed by coating a diamond-like carbon on a hard metal base material. No specific restriction is applied to the refractory metal to be used as a base material and, the hard metal composed of, for example, tungsten carbide, titanium carbide, tantalum carbide, cobalt or the like can be considered as a main component. A diamond- like carbon is synthesized on a surface of the hard metal. No specific restriction is applied to a coating method and, for example, an ion beam deposition method, an ionization deposition method, an ion beam spattering method, an ion plating method, a high frequency plasma method, a CO2 laser induction electric discharge method or the like can be considered. In this case, it is preferable that a surface of the hard metal base material to be coated is polished to Rmax 0.3μm or less.
