PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a temperature rise in a superconducting field winding by mounting an intermediate lead wire which electrically connects the pole-to- pole position of the superconducting field winding and the intermediate tap of a protective resistor for forming two closed circuits when the supreconducting field winding is quenched. SOLUTION: An intermediate lead wire 25 is mounted which electrically- connects the pole-to-pole position 5c of the superconducting field windings 5a, 5b and the middle position 24c of protective resistors 24a, 24b. If the superconducting field windings 5a, 5b are quenched by some reason from the outside such as disturbance, two closed circuits are formed by the intermediate lead wire 25 so that the energy stored by field current flowing through the superconducting field windings 5a, 5b may be consumed by the protective resistors 24a, 24b. It is thus possible to reduce self-inductance when the superconducting field windings 5a, 5b are quenched for reduction in the decay time constant of field current, and suppress a temperature rise in the superconducting field windings 5a, 5b. |
