PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a reliability and durability improved electronic component, having terminal electrodes with high production efficiency by reducing dimensional variations in the edge profile of its terminal electrodes, in a method of manufacturing an electronic component having terminal electrodes such as a multilayer ceramic capacitor. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method comprises the steps of heat-treating an electronic component element 4, on which first and second terminal electrodes 6 and 8 formed, being held by a rubber member, and thereafter applying first paste 32 for the first terminal electrode 6. As a result, even during the paste 32 application step, the wettability of the body 4 surface with respect to the paste 32 becomes improved, whereby an edge 60 to which the paste 32 has been applied becomes linear and likewise for the edges of the electrodes 6 and 8 to be formed by drying the applied portions of the paste 32. It may alternatively be designed, such that the body 4 on which the electrodes 6 and 8 are formed is immersed in a solution containing silicone oil an dried, after which the paste 32 is applied. |
