PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a component such as oil contained in contents from separating and sticking to a container while maintaining quality of the contents for a long period of time and to make takingout easy for the contents by a method wherein an alginate solution is applied to the surface of a base having a multivalent positive ion for the container. SOLUTION: With an alginate solution applied by means of coating, impregnation or spraying to the surface, especially the surface contacting with contents, of a container made up of a base having a multivalent positive ion such as glass, ceramic, or plastics containing a carboxyl group or its salt, an alginate coat being excellent in adhesiveness to the container base and in coating strength is formed. As an alginate, a sodium salt of an alginic acid is desirably used, and furthermore, it is desirable to mix a multivalent metallic salt with an alginic acid solution and apply the same instantaneously to the base surface of the container in order to form an alginate acid coat having a satisfactory property.
