<p>A safety mechanism in a utility lighter (1) comprises a safety trigger (50) that slides and rotates a fuel-release lever (90). Said safety trigger (50) has a space (52) through it that is parallel to the safety trigger's longitudinal axis, an undersurface (50b) that moves together with a sliding section (82) of a piezoelectric unit (80), an operation section (50a) that protrudes from the lighter housing (10), and extension tabs (51) that guide it. An ignition trigger (60) activates piezoelectric unit (80). Ignition trigger (60) slides relative to safety trigger (50) and has an operation section (60a) and an opposing end (60b). Operation section (60a) protrudes from operation section (50a). Ignition trigger (60) contacts sliding section (82). A projection (70) interferes with an edge (52c) of safety trigger (50). Projection (70) is fixed to an inner surface (10e) of lighter housing (10).</p> |
