PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a residual amount of paper finely and accurately detectable, by detecting the residual amount of paper loaded on a paper loading plate from a resistance value changed to be associated with action of a lifter. SOLUTION: In the case where a contact terminal 75 is placed in a position as shown in the drawing, a turn lifter is large moved, and a paper loading plate 1 is moved to the upward. A small residual amount of paper is loaded in the paper loading plate 1, a large tilt angleθof the paper loading plate 1 is formed, a large resistance value is detected, and a small voltage value is obtained in the case of calculation with a current as fixed. In reverse, in the case where the contact terminal 75 is placed in a position as shown in the drawing, the turn lifter is not so much moved, and the paper loading plate 1 is placed in a condition moved to the downward. A large residual amount of paper is loaded in the paper loading plate 1, a small tilt angleθof the paper loading plate 1 is formed, a small resistance value is detected, and a large voltage value is generated in the case of calculation with a current as fixed. In this way, a fine and accurate residual amount of paper can be detected from the output voltage value calculated from the resistance value.
