PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To completely suck from a slurry tank a slurry containing a high proportion of solids which are particularly difficult to suck by means of a pump. SOLUTION: This device for sucking a slurry, e.g. muddy water containing fragments generated during excavation for petroleum or the like, includes a generally horizontally disposed crushing device which includes two reverse rotating shafts 7, 8 having cutters 9 and spacers 10 alternately. An inching cavity type pump is vertically positioned above the crushing device. The spacers 10 are axially made thicker than the cutters 9 so that the crushing device allows passage of fragments of sizes permitted for a pump. In order to agitate the slurry sucked, impellers are positioned adjacent to and at the same level as the crushing device.
