PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a branching ratio adjusting method and manufacturing method for a Y-branch waveguide which can be expected to adjust the branching ratio with high precision and expected to obtain an epoch-making yield. SOLUTION: The branching ratio is adjusted by irradiating the Y-branch waveguide, which has a core 2 as an optical waveguide and a clad surrounding the core 2 on a substrate and is provided with >=1 Y-branch on the optical waveguide, with ultraviolet rays locally including a part of the core 2. The branching ratio adjusting method and manufacturing method for this Y-branch waveguide make it possible to effectively control the branching ratio and male the branching ratio uniform with high precision, an it can be expected by those method to comply with strict product specifications and expected to obtain an epoch-making yield. |
